Trigonometry

How to solve

In A sin(Bx), A stretches vertically and B compresses horizontally.

Steps

  1. Amplitude is |A| — drop the sign.
  2. Period is 2π divided by B.
  3. Simplify the period fraction and keep π in it.

Example

Period of y = 3 sin(4x)?

  1. Period = 2π/4.
  2. Simplify: π/2.

Answer: pi/2

How to type answers

  • Write periods like pi/2 or 2pi/3; amplitude as a plain number
